I was raised in the Rio Grande Valley, which is much farther south than most people consider “South Texas”.  It’s more like Northern Mexico actually, but along the northern edge (Texas) of the Rio Grande River.  I spent 23 years in banking in the Harlingen area, dealing predominantly with agriculture related industry.  Basically, small farms and real estate were the main businesses in our rural community.

I graduated from SMU in 1975 and upon graduation, I began my banking career in Mexico City, where I became proficient with the language and culture of Mexico.  Before returning to the Rio Grande Valley, I worked for the OCC as a bank examiner in Oklahoma for 2 years.  Then I settled into my banking career in the Valley as owner-operator of several small family-owned banks.  During 10 of those years, I also taught for 2 weeks each summer at the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at SMU.

My family and I moved to Fredericksburg in the Texas Hill Country in 1998.  As time passed, my affinity for the land around me grew and I obtained my real estate license in 2003.  I was associated with a ranch realty office in Llano, where I operated their Fredericksburg office until summer of 2010, when I started Jones Ranch Realty, LLC.  I specialize in rural homes on acreage, ranch and recreational properties in the Texas Hill Country.  My extensive experience and expertise in the Fredericksburg, Llano, Mason, Johnson City and Junction real estate markets will benefit you whether you are looking to buy or sell a rural home or ranch in our area. I take great pride in customer satisfaction and can assure you that I know and understand the “business” of real estate.  I look forward to working with you in your next transaction.

Feel free to contact me with any questions, any time!

Sincerely,

Jay Jones
